High Current Base-Mount
Filters
Recently added to the filter range is an extensive selection
of base mounting types.
These high current filters are designed largely for industrial
applications, with current handling capabilities up to 20Amps
at 250V a.c., 50-400Hz. Many different variations are available
including single and two stage filtering, tab or stud terminations
and three different case sizes. All are fully encapsulated and
carry UL and VDE safety approvals.
The filters offer very good size to performance ratio, particularly
the PS02 version 4 which measures only 45 x 22.5 x 18.5mm (excluding
tabs) but is rated up to 10A, making this one of the smallest
mains filters available in the market place.
The larger filters, PS02 versions 6 and 7, are designed for higher
current applications, with 5, 10, 15 and 20amp models available.
The PS04 range has two stage filtering providing additional attenuation
where applications demand. Terminations are either push-on tabs
or M4 studs, these give a very secure fixing, useful where equipment
is subject to vibration.

PCB-Mount Mains Filters
New to Bulgin's expanding range of EMI mains filters is a
PCB mounting version designed for direct assembly to the PCB.
This general purpose mains filter is available in 1, 3, 6, and
10Amp current ratings and carries UL and VDE approvals. Earth
leakage current is less than 0.8mA and can be used at ambient
temperatures up to 40°C at full load. The circuit consists
of 3 capacitors, internationally approved self healing X and
Y types, together with a toroidal choke, giving an excellent
attenuation curve.
Designed for fast assembly directly to the PCB the filter has
an extra earth tag and shrouded terminals to give a secure, positive
fixing. Additionally the lack of flying leads from the inlet
filter to the PCB will minimise any radiated noise.
Alternative connections, 2.8mm or 6.3mm tags, are also available
allowing panel mount fixing, where the short case can be used
to advantage if behind panel space is limited.

Two and Four Way
IEC Outlets
Bulgin Components has added two products to its EN60 320-2-2
(standard sheet F class II) IEC power outlet range, designed
for use with UPS and workstation equipment.
PX0714/2 and PX0714/4 are one-piece moulded, snap-to-panel modules
offering two or four way power outlet options. The devices are
wired with solid busbars, to reduce equipment production costs.
For safety critical applications, units can be supplied with
moulded rear protection covers.
Rated at 15A 250V ac UL/CSA and 10A 250V ac VDE/SEV/SEMKO, the
products variants are available to fit panel sizes 1, 1.5, 1.8,
2 and 2.5mm with 2.8mm solder tag terminations.
Suitable applications are where multiple outlets need to be supplied
using one power source.

Plastic Cased Filters
Two plastic cased filters have been added to Bulgin's extensive
EMI mains filter line-up.
The smallest types PS10, version 4, are small light weight filters
designed for fast auto-insertion directly into the PCB. These
general purpose mains filters are available in 1, 3, 6 and 10
amp versions, all carry UL approval.
The slightly larger PS02, version 5, base mounting filter is
designed for applications where a metal can or chassis earth
bond is not necessarily required. Available in 1, 3, 6 and 10
amp current ratings with solder tag terminations, the filters
have international approval.
Both styles use internationally approved self healing X and Y
capacitors combined with a low loss toroidal choke.
